This vehicle started out as a fire appliance, a Rescue Tender.....it proved to be impractical and was replaced by a Dodge Powerwagan and the Land Rover converted into an Ambulance. Prior to this, Teesside Airport had used a series of Austin LD vehicles ex Dalington Ambulance Service. It was one of the very first emergency vehicles with an electronic wail/yelp siren

This was not a Carmicheal conversion, but an original Bates of Evesham, Rescue Tender Fire Appliance similar to the L4P's supplied to the Northern Ireland Fire Authority

What was it's fate, and is it around today?
